ABSTRACT:
Hidden Messages or Images That Become Visible Only Through The Application Of A Spinning Motion
A consumer item, such as a jewelry pendant in the preferred embodiment contained herein, that is made up of a plate that is connected to a housing and spins on an axis and when spun at a certain velocity, reveals a hidden message or previously indistinguishable image and can also be made to display an animated or series of images or messages.
CLAIMS:
1. A Display System whereby images and/or messages to be displayed are visible and in their intended state only when spinning motion is applied.
2. A Display Device that is part of Claim 1 that is a multi-sided plate that is mounted or connected on an axis to a housing allowing its spinning or rotating movement in an intended fashion at a sufficient velocity so that the complete image or message is able to be displayed and become visible in its intended form.
3. A method and process for designing images and/or messages that are to be incorporated into the Display Device that is part of Claim 2 whereby the end image or message is disassemebled from its finished and complete state into patterns that cause the image or message to be indistinguishable from its final intended form and these patterns will be manufactured into or on the various sides of the Display Device so that when spun using motion at a certain velocity, the final intended images become visible.
4. The manufacturing process used to apply the dissasemebled image or message that is part of Claim 3 that is used in the Display Device in Claim 2 whereby the image or message is punched in, sewn, laser cut, painted, ink drawn or other process that may become viable, into the plate.
5. The manufacturing and assembly process and materials used to apply, mount, fasten and incorporate the Display Device as part of Claim 2 to an end product or consumer item (Display System) such as a jewelry pendant in the preferred embodiment contained in the drawing herein so that the Display Device can spin freely when put in motion at a velocity required to make the image and message visible.
6. The selection and use of various materials that can be used as the Display Device to optimize for the various Display Systems to be incorporated into.
BACKGROUND
The invention is intended to provide a special process for people to visually experience and interact with personal items that are meaningful to them such as pictures, art, mementos, special written messages or other similar items as well as being able to introduce animation and motion to an otheriwise static image. Whereas a picture or message is usually experienced in its final intended form, our invention seeks to break the image or message up into indistinguishable parts that force the person to take action to view the image or message or have it become animated. By having to initiate the action of spinning the plate that contains the indistinguishable image or message to view it in its intended state, a special process is introduced to experience items (although many other Display Systems are also applicable where proactive action is not required such as a consumer item for outdoors that relies on the wind to spin the Display Device).
The invention is also solving a problem for people who want to keep in their possession or give to others items that have meaning to them or the intended recipient but they do not want to have others be able to see the image or message inscribed on the item. As well, the invention stems from the desire to present a personalized gift, such as a piece of jewelry, that is unique in its delivery and effect in that it comes in the form of a private or secret message or image that can be made to come to life in an animated fashion for the viewer only when the viewer spins the gift. Many people want to present private messages of significance to others that they desire to be kept private for various reasons that this invention solves. Many meaningful gifts or items that people collect because of their personal significance may be more impactful when they can have them only come to life and be revealed when they take an action and thus be kept more significant to them then if they were apparent to them in its final state all the time or if others were able to see the intended message or image in plain sight. Presenting a hidden or secret message may have a more satisfying effect for the giver of the gift and the privacy of the message may make it more amenable to the receipient to keep in their possession in public. The animation effect may enhance the experience of viewing and interacting with the gift that a static image or message would not possess. Since motion of the gift is caused by the spinning of it by the person's initiation, it may provide longer lasting significance as a gift or possession since it will not be viewable in a constant manner. The gift or item may also become a show piece where others can be allowed to spin it to see the hidden image or message on their own. This gift can be housed in a more ornamental or specialized housing such as a pendant or any other consumer item that would provide similar rationales for using this invention as part of it..
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a process to disassemble and cause indistinguishable, images or written messages and then cause these images and messages to become optimally visible again only through the use of a spinning motion caused when a multi-sided Display Device for displaying the images and/or messages is spun by manual (such as a person applying pressure) or natural motion (such as the wind passing through the Display Device). When more than two sides are incorporated into the Display Device, a static image or message can be made into an animated moving one where the appearance of motion is visible to the viewer, and that, without the spinning of the Display Device, animation effects would not be visible. The Display Device is connected to a housing on an axis that allows for it to spin freely as per requirements. The spinning motion causes all individual sides of the Display Device to become incorporated into one unified intended-for message or image that without motion appears as a disjointed unrelated image or message. The message or image meant to be viewed only comes to life and reveals its message or image only through the application of the spinning motion and thus results in a more meaningful and memorable effect, since the message or image is hidden and private until the use of motion or spinning of the gift or other consumer item that houses the Display System is applied to reveal the hidden message or image.
While a particular form of the invention has been illustrated and described herein, it will be apparent that various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Figure 1. Shows the Display Device (front view) contained within a display housing that together form the Display System which in this example is a jewelry pendant attached to a jewelry chain (Fig. 1a). The size, thickness, materials used and weight of the Display Device can be modified to be relative to the needs to fit properly in the housing and final intended Display System in addition to the requirements to ensure the final intended image or
message can be displayed clearly. The partial indistinguishable image or message that is contained on the sides of the Display
Device is manufactured onto the Display Device through machine or
manual stamping or etching or carving or drawing/painting or any
other method that can be used to sufficently create the final
intended image or message.
Figure 2. (2a) Shows how the Display Device connects to to the
display housing allowing for movement of the Display Device
(forward or backwards). The Display Device is the male part and
the housing device the female - the female having a recess, the
recess constructed and arranged to accept at least a portion of
the male portion therein along the axis, to allow rotation of the
male portion in relation to the female portion about the axis.
Movement of the Design Apparatus may occur at variable speeds
depending on the amount of resistance or friction in the
manufacturing process of the Display System, or strength of force
applied to allow for the Design Device to experience movement.
Each image or message coupled with the particular variables of the
Display System, will require that the connection of the Display
Device to the housing be sufficiently loose to allow for the
intended image or message to be fully displayed. Without the
applied motion, each of the sides of the Display Device display only a partial element of the complete image or message that renders each side illegible to the human eye.
Movement of the Display Device can be achieved through manual (i.e.
human finger), mechanical (Display System incorporated into a
consumer device that is attached to a machine) , natural (wind
passing through a Display System that is outdoors) or Energy source (exhaust or other result of combustion or burning flame...).
Figure 3. Shows the Display System functioning as intended in
that the Display Device is spinning within the housing that is
part of a jewelry pendant consumer item at a velocity that
renders the final image visible as intended. Through the movement
(spinning motion) of the Display Device at the required velocity,
the complete intended-for-viewing image or message is fully
visible. Should the velocity of the spinning not be sufficient to
optimally display the image, there is still a strong likelihood that the degradation of image quality would be marginal and
proportionate to the loss of rotation of the plate in the Display
Device. Although the embodiment herein is a pendant, a larger less
weightier Display Device could be manufactured to create a market
for consumer items for the outdoors that rely on light wind power
to create the spinning motion for instance.
Figure 4. Shows side view or Display Device and display housing
apparatus and how the two components connect.
Figure 5. Side view of the Display Device while in motion and
connected to the housing device. The housing in this embodiment
only partially houses the Display Device but that may easily be
modified to completely house the Display Device or may take many
other forms and functions as per the Display System requirements.
While a certain representative embodiment and details has been shown merely for the purpose of illustrating the invention, those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that various modifications may be made without departing from the novel teachings or scope of this invention. Accordingly, all such modifications are intended to be included within the scope of this
invention as defined in any claim following this description.
